Walford Park and Recreation Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:05. Lane, Miner, Davis, Hebert, Primmer present.
Motion to approve July 5 minutes by Lane, seconded by Primmer. Approved unanimous. Motion to approve up $2000 for purchase and shipping of two SG315P benches to place at the basketball court by Lane. Seconded by Davis. Approved unanimous.
Knapp Creek swingset

• Consideration of space requirements discussed. Potential distance requirements/codes to be investigated.

Walford Fun Days conversation

  • A specific bank account will be created to enable planning committee to capture donations or

    sponsor monies to be used in conjunction with Parks budget allocation.

  • Proposals for events/activities to be presented in November for planning purposes

  • Date planned to align with the second Saturday in June to match the city fireworks display - June

    9 and 10 of 2023 Halloween party

• Motion to approve up to $500 for purchase of Halloween Equipment/Grounds/Maintenance

  • Fill dirt around the concrete pads - basketball and pickle ball still needed

  • Sand volleyball has been infested by wasps - requires attention to exterminate

  • Batting cage net has been damaged by city mowers - would city funds replace this time?

  • Steering wheel toy mounted on Knapp Creek playground is no longer attached was last seen

    laying on the ground under the equipment Citizen comments

  • A request to consider expansion of the existing pickle ball court has been brought forward with ideas on an improved surface. Request is to consider using existing sand volleyball court space for 2nd court.

  • Consider periodic posting on social media of pickle ball times/schedule
    Paul Newhouse present to inquire about donating a tree for one of the city parks in memory of Nancy Koestner.
    Motion to adjourn by Lane. Seconded by Miner. Meeting adjourned 7:56.
