Walford Park and Recreation Minutes

Regular Meeting                                                                                                                    Tuesday March 3, 2020

Regular Meeting called to order at 7:00pm. Primmer, Miner, Lane, and Gann present. Davis was absent.

 

Motion by Gann to approve January 7th minutes, seconded by Miner.  Approved unanimous.

 Baseball equipment/uniforms/hats:

Discussion included needs for jerseys and caps, including current inventory.

Motion by Miner to approve up to $2500 expenditure to procure jerseys and caps for needed sizes and age groups. Seconded by Lane.  Approved unanimous.  

Equipment discussion included needs for balls, bags to replace worn out current inventory, score books, and batting helmets for specific needed sizes.  Motion by Miner to approve up to $1500 expenditure to procure items per needed inventory list.  Seconded by Lane.  Approved unanimous.

Regarding availability of the tractor and presence at the ball diamond, Parks Board stipulates the tractor be ready for use at the ball diamond no later than March 20, 2020 in order to provide adequate maintenance for Walford ball teams at the large and small ball diamonds.

Easter Egg Hunt with Central State Bank:

Motion by Gann to approve $250 allocation per budget line to  provide sponsor support for Central State Bank Easter Egg Hunt.  Seconded by Lane.  Approved unanimous.

Walford Fireworks Day:

Discussion confirmed planned date of June 13, 2020.

Pickle Ball League with Fairfax:

Equipment/Grounds/Maintenance:

Item list reviewed: Knapp Creek bench concrete, concession stand building light fixtures above picnic tables, downspouts on concession stand building, exterior paint on concession stand building.

Vandalism incident was discussed, options for cleanup and options to prevent future acts were discussed, including surveillance camera and locking park gate.

 Citizen comments:

T-ball coach present to inquire about likelihood of two T-ball teams for 2020.  Board confirmed two teams are planned.

 

Request was made to mow the City Park ball diamond area short enough during April/May/June to be used as a t-ball practice area when the main diamonds are in use for practices for other age groups.

 

Motion to adjourn by Lane, seconded by Primmer.  Meeting adjourned 7:55.
