Walford Park and Recreation Minutes
Regular Meeting Tuesday November 7th, 2023
Meeting called to order at 7:03. Lane, Hebert, Davis, Heber present.
Motion to approve October minutes by Hebert, seconded by Lane. Approved unanimous.
Motion to approve up to $600.00 for Christmas Party by Hebert, seconded by Lane
2024 Baseball Season
Pat M and Melissa W attended coach meeting, no news at this time.
Walford Fun Days
November event coming up 11/19 Vendor Fair at City Hall.
December event on 12/2 at City Hall.
General equipment/grounds/maintenance
Still need grading/dirt/seeding around pickle ball court
Tree at Knapp Creek Park (evergreen in southeast corner) needs to be trimmed due to dead branches. Please trim dead branches up to 6 feet from the ground.
Please make sure 2-10 foot benches have been ordered for the basketball court. If we need to approve additional funds for an additional bench please add to next months agenda if not already ordered.
Pickleball court-The tiles have a 5 year unconditional warranty. The company will be coming out to replace broken tiles and tiles with divots and fix the tiles that paint is wearing off. The company will be filing a claim with the manufacturer for the tiles that are discolored and stated they would come power wash the court in the spring to remove sand/dirt/rocks.
Alliant Tree Grant program
Grant was submitted by November 1st deadline. They are requesting additional information:
We will need a couple more things from you.
The map you sent did come through, however if you could pinpoint where the locations are that you are wanting to plant as in your narrative. Draw on with a highlighter and notate what’s what, would help us.
Also, for your convenience, I’ve attached the Budget/Matching form and Tree Species Guide for you. The budget form does need to be filled out to what you are wanting to plant, how many and what you received for tree quotes (from local nurseries) and any matching that you may have. The trees must be in 5-15 gal containers, and chosen from the tree species guide attached. The budget form that was with the online application was not filled out.
Reminder, the requested grant dollars are only for the trees, and nothing else. (Hence needing the Budget Form)
The email will be forwarded along with these minutes. Please advise how to proceed with the tree planting grant as we are not comfortable determining where trees should be planted and what kind of trees are needed.
