Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Board advises City Council on needed park and recreation facilities such as parks, playgrounds, and other forms of community recreation. The Parks and Recreation Board also is responsible for planning and overseeing City programs and encouraging other programs to enhance the leisure time activities of the residents of Walford. 

The Parks and Recreation Board consists of five members, all residents of Walford, appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council, for overlapping terms of three years. Members serve without compensation. Vacancies are filled in the same manner as the original appointment for the balance of the term.

Parks & Recreation Meetings are held at 7pm on the first Tuesday of every month @ The Community Center. 

City Parks

Park hours are 6:00 am to 10:30 pm as per Walford Code of Ordinances Chapter 22.

Walford City Park:

Located between B Avenue W and C Avenue W, and 3rd Street N and 4th Street N. Facilities include:

  • Pavilion

  • Swing Set

  • Jungle Gym

  • Pickleball

  • Basketball (north of C Avenue W)

Pavilion is available for rent on a first come, first serve basis. There is no fee for rental of the pavilion.

Baseball & Softball

The ball diamonds are off 1st Ave W. South of Bully’s Angle Inn. Facilities Include

  • Baseball Diamond

  • Softball Diamond

  • Walking Trail

  • Playground Equipment

  • Pavilion 

Ball diamonds are available for rental as follows: 

  1. Baseball and Soft Ball Diamonds are reserved with the Walford Parks and Recreation Board.

  2. Sponsored Leagues as approved by the Walford Parks and Recreation Board will not have a fee.

  3. Executed Baseball Diamond Rental Contract is required prior to use.

  4. Fess for non-sponsored teams use of Baseball and Soft Ball Diamonds are as follows:

    • $150 (One Hundred Fifty) Security Deposit

    • Field Rental is $30 (Thirty) per team event of 3 hours or less

    • Field Rental is $60 (Sixty) per team event per day, greater than 3 hours
