Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Services
Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste services is provided by Johnson County Refuse (an LRS Company). Cost is $28.00 per month
Place the garbage and recycling cart at the curb with the wheels facing your house and the lid opening towards the street. Keep carts 4 feet apart and 5 feet from any obstacles such as mailboxes, carts, lamp posts, power lines, etc.
Garbage:
Each resident will receive a 65-gallon cart (Black Lid) to be placed at the curb for once-per-week pickup garbage. No other cans will be accepted.
Pick-Up is Friday
Carts must be placed at curb by 6:00 am on Friday morning
Extra Garbage:(any bag outside container)
Each extra garbage bag can be no larger than 35 gallons and weigh no more than 40 pounds. Each bag must be tagged with a dark pink garbage sticker. Stickers are $3.00 each and are sold at The Depot Express in Walford and Walford City Hall.
Recycling:
Each resident will receive a 65-gallon cart (Yellow Lid) to be placed at the curb for once-per-week recycling. No other cans will be accepted. One container is used for all recycling; no separation is required.

Yard Waste:
Each resident will receive a 65-gallon green yard waste cart to be placed at the curb for once-per-week yard waste pickup. No other cans will be accepted.

Extra Yard Waste: (any bag outside of container)
Extra yard waste must be in brown paper yard waste bag with sticker. Stickers are $1.00 each and are sold at The Depot Express in Walford and Walford City Hall.
All yard waste shall be separated by the owner or occupant from all other solid waste accumulated on the premises and shall be composted on the premises. As used in this section, ―yard waste means any debris such as grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, brush and trees. Yard waste does not include tree stumps. (Code of Iowa, 105.06).
Residential solid waste containers shall be stored upon the residential premises. Commercial solid waste containers shall be stored upon private property, unless the owner has been granted written permission from the City to use public property for such purposes. The storage site shall be well drained; fully accessible to collection equipment, public health personnel and fire inspection personnel. All owners of residential and commercial premises shall be responsible for proper storage of all garbage and yard waste to prevent materials from being blown or scattered around neighboring yards and streets. (Code of Iowa, 105.10).
