Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment hears and rules on appeals where there is an alleged error in any zoning decisions. The Board of Adjustment may also rule on special conditions that will result in unnecessary hardship.
The Board of Adjustment consists of five members, all residents of Walford, appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council. A majority of the members of the Board shall be person representing the public at large and shall not be involved in the business of purchasing or selling real estate. Members shall be appointed for staggered five-year terms. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term only.

The Board of Adjustment duties are as follows:
1. To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an Administrative Official in the enforcement of this chapter.
2. To hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of this chapter.
3. To authorize upon appeal in specific cases such variance from the terms of this chapter as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special conditions a literal enforcement of this chapter will result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of this chapter shall be observed and substantial justice done.
