City Council:

– Highway 151 Update: The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) is planning to reconstruct Highway 151 from Norway Corner to Williams Boulevard, just south of Fairfax. On Nov. 10 IDOT will host an open house from 5–7pm at Walford City Hall. IDOT will have plans and residents will be able to meet individually with representatives to answer questions. The City Council meeting will follow the IDOT open house.

– At the October Council meeting, the council approved an agreement with Linn County and the City of Fairfax to develop a Fringe Area Agreement. Fringe Area Plans support coordinated planning between Linn County, Fairfax, and Walford, specifically within two miles of city boundaries. This collaborative process directs new development towards mutually agreed-upon locations, promotes orderly development of land and reduces public infrastructure costs. Each plan offers a framework to guide the growth and development of fringe areas over 20 years with periodic reviews occurring as needed. Public input sessions will be held for residents to share their thoughts.

Parks and Rec:

– The Parks Board needs some help! We want kids to come to our next meeting and tell us what you think would make our parks more fun! If you have ideas for this, we will have this topic first at next month’s meeting!
