Walford Park and Recreation Minutes
Regular MeetingTuesday June 2, 2026
Metting called to order at 7:00 pm. Hahn, Butz, & Perkins were present. Miner & Horak were absent
Motion to approve minutes of May 5,2026 minutes Parks board meeting by Butz, seconded by Perkins. Approved unanimously.
Discussion was held regarding umpire shortages. It was noted Fairfax Umpires were available at a rate of $60/game. Hahn moved to authorize payment of $60/game for Fairfax Umpires if they are utilized for youth sports games. Seconded by Butz. Approved unanimously.
Discussions were held regarding mulch at the parks & around trees, installation of the volleyball net & installing a “Children at Play” sign at Knapp Creek City Park. No action taken.
Maintenance items will be forwarded to City staff for review & completion as appropriate.
No updates were available regarding additional quotes for the proposed pickleball court expansion project. The Board briefly discussed the status of the project and will continue to seek additional information and quotes as they become available. No action was taken.
The Board discussed the initial meeting with Shive-Hattery regarding potential concession stand and restroom improvements at the ball field. Representatives from Shive-Hattery reviewed the site and discussed potential project requirements and next steps. The Board was informed that Shive-Hattery will prepare and present a proposal for professional services to support engineering and design work, as well as assistance with the public bidding process for the project. No action was taken.
The Board discussed items to be included in the upcoming City newsletter. Announcements will include information regarding the City's Independence Day fireworks display, reminders concerning regulations and permitted use of personal fireworks within the City, and notification of a change in the pickleball league schedule. No formal action was taken.
Butz motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 pm, second by Perkins. Meeting adjourned.
